Talking to your gym crush for the first time

If you’re crushing on that hottie on the treadmill or in your Crossfit class, you might be wondering how to talk to your crush. You’re not alone – gym crushes abound in the natural world. After all, it makes sense: the gym is home to some of the finest examples of physical achievement you’ll ever see, plus you’ve already got something in common: living an active, healthy life.

Here are the tips on how to talk to your crush.

1.Make it about the workout.

The first rule of Gym Crush Club* is that it’s all about the workout. Actually, that’s the only rule. Repeat after me: it’s all about the workout. Don’t make going to the gym about your gym crush. Yes, they enhance your motivation, and they’re great eye-candy, but the main reason you work out (and theirs too) is to be healthy and get the best physique you can have. If you focus on the workout, then regardless of what happens with your gym crush, you will still be healthier and look sexier. Remember, you can take your workouts seriously, and still have fun. So make it about the workout – you’re doing it for you. And if you do, soon you’ll be someone else’s gym crush.

2. Pay attention to body language.

If you’ll forgive me for stating the obvious, but the fact of the matter is that some people are open to being approached and some aren’t. So how do you know if your gym crush is open to meeting you? The number one signal is if you both make eye contact and hold it for longer than usual. If this happens 3 or more times, that’s probably a good sign. And if they smile at you, that’s as green a light you can get. On the other hand, your gym crush could be so wrapped up in their workout that they just don’t notice you. Even if you don’t get any of the obvious signs they still may be open to meeting you… and the only way to find out is to take action. Either way, you win, if they’re not interested you can forget about them, and if they are… who knows?

3. The secret on how to talk to your crush is to BE FRIENDLY.

couple on treadmills

The real secret to getting to know your gym crush… is to just be friendly. When you see them make eye contact and smile. The next time you can do the same and throw in a ‘hi’. Be friendly and build it up slowly, there’s no need to try rushing things – just be friendly and let it happen naturally. Later you can throw out some compliments when you see them. Soon, you’ll be having long conversations, and from there you can gauge their interest and move it forward if they look like they’re open to it. In fact, they may be the one to ask you! One more thing. If you want to be approached, make yourself approachable – smile, be friendly, have fun… and remember the unspoken rule: if you’re wearing headphones, you don’t want to be bothered. Think of them as those ‘do not disturb’ signs you see at hotels.

4. Time it right.

In life, timing can make all the difference. Never interrupt someone who is in the middle of a set, or giving it maximum intensity on the treadmill. It’s dangerous and shows a lack of social finesse – so don’t do it. Between sets is ok (just don’t expect them to be super conversational when they’re busy recovering) or if they’re walking on the treadmill. Basically, use some common sense at picking the time you approach them.

5. Position yourself for the opportunity.

To seize opportunity you’ve got to be positioned correctly. If your gym crush is in the weight section, start strength training (it’ll make you healthier and sexier too)… if they’re in a class, get yourself into that class. Classes are a great way to meet people, including your gym crush, because they’re much more social (especially before they start and when they finish) – it’d be easy to transition into a conversation and grabbing a juice and taking it from there. Another way to approach it is to ask them if you can work in with them between sets, from there it’s easy to make conversation. Finally, to make a slight change to the famous quote: 80% of success is showing up… to the right places. And for the love of all that’s good, when you do show up, don’t spend the whole time ogling your crush… that’s stalker territory – it will creep your crush out.

Hope these tips on how to talk to your crush help you snug that hottie.

Gym Couples tend to be happier with the relationship

The time spent in the gym together by gym couples adds up to the quality time they spend together. Breakfast for pregnant women

Healthy Lifestyle when pregnant

Being the fitness freak and hitting the gym almost daily with my boyfriend has become a daily regimen for me. However getting news that I got pregnant a month back had mixed feelings for me I was overjoyed with the news as we were trying for it for a long time. However a small concern at the back of my mind was the loss of figure and fitness I had maintained in the past five years. Visiting the gynaecologist and a dietician removed all my concerns. The gynaecologist was quite upbeat in giving me examples of her patients who had retained their figures and fitness levels after giving birth and she even asked me to exercise moderately although she put a complete ban on weight lifting of course the heavy ones.

The dietician was another important person I met over the past couple of weeks since I have been following the diet plan the dietician wrote for me. Breakfast for pregnant women is the most important meal of the day. My boyfriend although too busy still helps and has breakfast with me once we are back from the gym.

Breakfast for pregnant women should be well balanced

While ingesting food in pregnancy one is eating for her own body requirements along with the body requirements of the small life that is inside. Thus breakfast for pregnant women should be well balanced that kills hunger and provides nourishment. My favorite breakfast these days consists of Egg, bean and cheese burrito. This allows me to have enough of vegetables in the morning, since I hate to have vegetable in the afternoon or evening.

To prepare it I spoon two scrambled eggs top it with two tablespoons of cooked beans to get proteins I get two tablespoons of grated hard cheese with chopped tomato on a wholegrain tortilla. He likes to season it with salt and pepper and roll up, folding in the top and bottom edges. This is one breakfast for pregnant women which make sure that the protein needs of the pregnant woman are met along with the other nutrients.

Salmon is a healthy food for pregnant women

Salmon is a very nice food

To get my taste buds tickling I have special plans for weekends when we both have ample of time to prepare breakfast. On a typical weekend for the past couple of weeks I have been choosing a baked variety of salmon since the smoked ones are not considered too good foe pregnant women. Mini Bagels which come from the whole wheat variety are supplemented with it. My dietician has termed it as one of the best breakfast for pregnant women. Salmon contains the essential omega acids quite important for the development of the baby.

Breakfast for pregnant women – Cereal

On days when I don’t really feel like getting my lousy self to do anything I prefer to go with cereals. These days I am very particular about reading what exactly I am deriving from what I am eating for my body and the kid that’s there fully dependent on the nutrition I am going to provide. I go for a cereal that is able to provide 10-14 grams of fiber per serving. Milk essentially forms a major part of the diet and having these cereals with milk added with a few dry fruits is the perfect way as a breakfast for pregnant women. Cereal that is fortified with iron and berries to replenish vitamin C is something I do almost every time I am going in for a cereal breakfast. Snacking on dry cereal in between meals of course is going to help both the mother and the child.

Meal preparation for couples

Breakfast is the most important element of any fitness freak’s regimen. If you miss breakfast you are going to miss a lot in terms of the good that you intend to do for your body. There are many options a couple can experiment with especially while exercising together. The fun of preparing the morning meal together leads to better coordination and a long term bonding with your partner as a couple.

My girlfriend and I believe in a holistic meal that is able to replenish our bodies with the essential elements required by it to ensure an alert body all through the day. We generally prepare breakfast together in the morning.

Green Smoothie for the immune system

This is my favorite and I am the one who generally prepares it for both of us. I am kind of a master in preparing a green smoothie for both of us. I blend 1 cup of spinach 1 cup of kale, 1/2 a banana, a small handful almonds, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 3 to 5 raw Brazil nuts, 1 to 2 tablespoons cacao or carob powder and 1/2 a can of full-fat coconut milk. I have been drinking this smoothie with a small variation in the ingredients almost every day for the past three years. She has also been able to develop her taste for it.

The most essential element of your breakfast – Protein

Since both of us are into exercising and gym training in a big way the constant demand for protein needs to be fulfilled right in the morning. Generally she takes care of the protein part everyday and for that she combines 2 to 3 large scoops of vegan protein with 4 to 6 ounces full-fat coconut milk (unsweetened), 1 to 2 tablespoons of almond butter, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, a handful of organic coconut flakes (unsweetened) and a tablespoon of chia seeds.

Yes we like to splurge sometimes

Sometimes we both have time to splurge. Last weekend we didn’t have much to do and decided to make our breakfast a bit more interesting. We scrambled and fried 4 eggs in olive oil and added a bit of butter to change the taste (we like experimenting with food). On the side we had a large serving of Swiss chard, a handful of olives and one avocado. Adding sea salt and pepper along with sliced tomato made the breakfast awesome. It has been almost two years since me and she started having breakfast together and there is a mutual understanding that we need to keep up this regimen for a long time.

Throwback Thursday: DODGERS

Happy Thanksgiving!  I have so much to be thankful for.  I had some good times this year that didn’t make my blog that I would like to share with you all before 2017 sneaks up on us.  My first 2016 throwback will be about my two incredible Dodger games this year.

Nic and I have been Dodger fans forever.  We have gone to several games each season starting way back in our dating days.  Those games slowed down once the twins came.  We went to one game last season. I figured it would be the same this season so we made sure to make it a good one.  And that it was.  We chose a game when the Red Sox came to town.  It was Vin Scully’s last season as well as Big Papi’s.

Now here is where it gets cool.  Did you know that there are perks to using your MasterCard?  Y’all remember those Priceless TV commercials years back?  Well, MasterCard is still hot and heavy on creating those Priceless moments.

If you use your MasterCard inside the park you have an opportunity to be upgraded to the MasterCard Best Seats In The House.  Guess who got to sit there?

These are the seats us common folk look at from the upper levels and drool over.  These are the seats that offer in seat service and all you can eat food for FREE.  These are the seats that have tables so you don’t have to eat off your lap or dirty your purse on the ground.

And these are the seats that get you up close and personal to the players and celebs.  Nic got Orel Hershiser’s autograph before he went on air broadcasting the game.

It was a hot summer day game and we sweated like pigs BUT had a great time.  We even made the jumbo tron when the Dodgers advertised MasterCard.  Woot Woot.

Pretty awesome experience, right?  Well it didn’t end there.  Flash forward a few months to post season.  The Dodgers were oh so very close to the World Series and playing the Chicago Cubs.

The day of game 3 Nic and I were at Kyllian’s physical therapy session when I received a call from a LA phone number.  I thought it was UCLA calling so I answered.  It was a representative from Master Card offering us tickets to game 4.  FREE post season play offs to watch the Dodgers vs. the Cubs.  She told me Master Card wanted to thank us for being loyal customers and offer us another once in a lifetime Priceless experience.  And this time we would get to stand on the field during batting practice.  I almost passed out.

So 24 hours later.  There we were.  On the field.  Thankful for using our MasterCard so much on Pampers and Enfamil.

We were given strict rules of not asking for autographs.  No standing on the grass.  And we only had 15 minutes to ohh and awe before we had to take our seats in the nosebleeds. MasterCard said MLB gave them leftover seat tickets and we were at the top of the top of the park.  We didn’t care.  We got to stand on the field.

We stood there for way over 15 minutes.  I did get autographs.  And MasterCard ended up upgrading us to better seats than the nosebleeds.  WINNING.

I got an autograph from Dodger’s manager Dave Roberts – who is very nice and has a great smile!  He made great eye contact and really seemed like he would stay to chat if he didn’t have an important game to get to.  And I got an autograph from Andre Either – who has been my crush for many many many years.  He was nice too and just as handsome as ever.  I like to think it was all my charm instead of the fact that they get paid millions to be nice to the VIP’s on the field.  ha

Once our time on the field was done we were given a mini tour of Dodger memorabilia.  Cy Young awards.  Golden Glove trophies.  Original contracts for players (Sandy Kofax pictured below).  And the World Series trophies.

Although the Dodgers did not win it’s pretty cool to say we got to watch them play the World Series champion.  The 2016 season was a good one for the Dodgers and for me.  Thank you MasterCard for a Priceless year.

Enjoying Friendship at Church

When I think about all that single moms have to do, I almost have a panic attack. I wish other Christians could understand how much they need some extra attention on Sunday morning. And also how much they don’t necessarily want anything more than a nursery or Sunday school class for their kids so that they can enjoy the service.

I don’t think Christian single moms wants a bunch of pity attention on Sunday. They don’t need people pointing out how they are Christian, and a mom, but they don’t have a husband. It’s a little off putting to have to explain this on every morning to new comers.

When you look at people in your church, do you see them as potential friends? People that you might have something in common with and want to connect with them?

This is how I imagine these women want you to look at them. They might like the same hobbies as you or they might just want your teenager to babysit their kids one night a week. They probably have some things to give, and also some things to offer (like some spending cash for your lazy son or daughter who just wants an easy 20 bucks from your own wallet).

They are a family unit unto themselves so they have dishes to do and home maintenance to either perform or hire contractors to accomplish.

Not every woman is the same, but I don’t know very many that don’t like companionship. People who will call impromptu to see how they are doing. And even if they can’t talk at the moment, they will deep done love that you thought of them. As a friend, not just to check up on their spiritual progress. Just as someone who likes them as they are and just wants to hear their voice.

So think about how friendly you are. You can end up connecting with a lot of people you thought you might have nothing in common with. So get out there in church and start up a few chats or volunteer. You might just meet a lifelong friend from any walk of life.
